Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Jerry Falwell's Funeral

So, Westboro Baptist Church is at it again. This time they are going to protest the "false prophet Jerry Falwell". SAY WHAT!? Wow this is sick, but I guess anyone who changes the words to pop songs so that "God Hates the World" has got to be willing to disassociate themselves from common sense, and be willing to desecrate a memorial service for the dead.

  3. Ugh.

It is REALLY hard for me to have grace towards those people, knowing how much hurt they have caused to many people, including some of my friends. The stuff they believe and do just rankles me!!

On the other hand, it's sad how deceived they are by Satan and how perverted their faith is.

  4. Marieke,

I find it to be completely amazing that tthey can say the things they do so nonchalantly, and even laugh and smile about it all. But I guess that happens when you divorce your cultural sensibilities from your faith.

  5. It's sad, cause they are all so young and happy.
How the hell can you hold a sign like and be happy?

  6. This is simply bizarre. As an Englishman in Australia I find this almost incomprehensible.

  7. I'm of the opinion that quite a lot of it is for publicity for their perspective on things. They're bound to get press attention, particularly for someone as 'significant' as Falwell, and they hope it will attract others who see the world in such a negative way. It gets attention and maybe that's what they crave the most.

  8. quite simply don't know whether to laugh or cry!
Why O why do they think this is right?
What saddens me most is to see young children carrying boards emblazoned with messages of hate.

  9. But they view it as messages of love- giving people a warning for what they believe they're setting themselves up for spiritually and what they believe God will punish the world for on this earth.... they believe that God is an angry God who punishes his creation for permitting sin. The OT provides some prescidence (sp) for that perspective and Revelation seems to suggest it will happen again. Westboro Baptists are firm believers that we are in the end times and that God is punishing the fallen world. Sadly, they also seem to thrive on the publicity they get for promoting their interpretation of those sections of scripture.

  11. Les. Incomprehensible indeed. Sppreading the message is one thing. At funerals is another.

  12. Sally - both laughing and crying are healthy.

  13. I never cared for Jerry Fawell. However, its sacriligious to protest a funeral. Its a time for reconciliation and calling for God's Grace. These men and women should realize that they just made Jesus cry by their actions towards a fellow brother in Christ.

  14. Judging from the fruit that abounds to their account A-typ.. they really don't care what Jesus thinks of their actions.

  15. A-typ and Mark,

Cry He does, and care they don't. Of course they would not see God crying, but grotesquely laughing.

  16. Falwell never really ranked on my list of Christians to listen to but these guys are just sad, sad, sad. If God judges them by their own yardsticks they may be in for a shock one day.
