The Burqini? Wow! this is Cool.

Having read this story I just could not pass up saying I think this is a great example of people breaking outside the box of cultural perceptions about them. Check out this story of Australian Muslim young women joining the volunteer lifesaving forces on the beach - still committed to wearing their burqas - albeit modified.

This ties into my post on sexuality, and the observations on virginity as a ritual lifestyle as a pattern of modeling faithfulness to God. I am amazed that the burqa wearing young women in Australia are finding ways to live their ritual lifestyles, and still integrate into society at this level. Perhaps we have something to learn from them about being "in the world, but not of it."

Phil,

Forgive me if I sound irreverent but I didn't think a little irreverence bothers you much...

I couldn't help but notice that the Australian Surf and Rescue team is sponsored by DHL. Can you picture these lifeguards swimming powerfully out to a drowning person, wrapping their arms around them, and pulling them back to safety while saying, "Hello, mate, this rescue is brought to you by DHL!"

Phil,

Do I feel like a jerk? I haven't been to your site this week so I didn't know about your mom-in-law until I scrolled down to read the previous post about her. Please forgive my insensitivity. I am praying for you and Bev RIGHT NOW!

Penitentially,
Dave
